Have you ever thought about what God did before he created the world?

Maybe He has some cool hobbies we have never heard about. Perhaps He spent lots of time day dreaming. Maybe He played some kind of sport in heaven.

OR… Perhaps He was dreaming and planning and LOVING us before creation.

(I am going to go with the last option, just FYI.)

Can you imagine? God loved us not only before he created us– but before He created the entire world! Don’t believe me? Check this out from Ephesians:

“How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.” ~Ephesians 1:3-6

That is some pretty incredible love.  He had this whole thing planned out. He had me planned. He had you planned.

And He loved us long before our existence.

It gets even better. He didn’t create us because He was lonely– He simply created us because He has that much love.

Take a moment to allow that thought to sink in. Wow, right?

Just that thought alone should bring us to our knees and give us extra motivation to find Jesus in our everyday. Specifically, we can find Him in His love for other people and the people He has placed in our lives.

We can find Him in the quirks of our spouse.

We can find Him in the messes made by tiny hands.

We can find Him in the kind heart that open the door for us when our hands our full.

We can find Him in the grumpy cashier who, despite his or her mood, still smiles back when we show them some compassion.

God loved us long before creation. Now we have the opportunity to love Him by loving the people in our everyday lives.

Think about the people in your life. Do they make you think of God’s love? How can you love them like Christ loves you in your everyday life? You know the drill… I always love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment below.

Take some time today to revel in the fact that God wasn’t bored when He created the heavens, the earth and the people on it. Instead, He was in love. Specifically, He was in love with YOU. He loved you before creation, now we can return the favor and love those we encounter in His creation in our everyday.

Loving Him,
